York North Family Resource Programmes, operating as

The Family Place

We are a not-for-profit, registered charity, that provides a variety of services to children aged 0-6, along with their care providers.

We offer drop-in play, educational programs and social/recreational programming.

We have two large playrooms, crafts, hot lunches, and we offer a variety of programs for both children and their caregivers.

YNFRP was established in 1991 as The Strawberry Patch in Queensville, Ontario.

Two mothers with an idea to have a place to gather, share stories, support one another, soon became six mothers - and our first board of directors. This idea blossomed and other sites were established in Keswick and Sutton, with Mount Albert on the horizon.

In 2002, the Ontario Government changed its funding structure for these programs with the creation of Ontario Early Years Centres. The board at the time wanted to remain as an independent family resource program and sought to find other sources of funding. During this transition, the three original sites were closed. Currently, we continue to have a strong presence in Mount Albert with hundreds of families in the region visiting each year.

We are currently funded by Newmarket Charitable Gaming Association (Bingo  World), annual fundraisers and private donations
