A Day in the Life

8:30-9:00am

9:00am-2:00pm

2:00–2:30pm

2:30–4:30pm

The day begins by preparing the space — setting up play centres, laying out activity stations, and making sure everything is safe and welcoming for families. During this time, you’ll also check emails and social media messages that came in overnight, responding to inquiries or updating families on program details before the doors open.

The heart of the day is spent with families. You’ll greet caregivers and children, guide circle times or activities, and offer support where needed. Between busy moments, you’ll tidy play stations, sanitize shared items, and give tours to new visitors. When the program is quieter, you’ll shift to administrative tasks such as drafting grant applications, creating marketing materials, preparing communications for upcoming events, or updating attendance and membership records.

As families wrap up their visits, you’ll focus on tidying the centre, sanitizing toys, and resetting the space for the next day. This time also provides a chance to update inventory lists, prepare supplies for special events, or follow up on program registrations and invoices.

The afternoon is dedicated to sustainability and growth. You’ll schedule social media posts, work on grant applications, or connect with potential sponsors. You may also coordinate community partnerships, plan upcoming workshops, or manage birthday party rentals. This time allows you to step back from daily programming to ensure The Family Place remains strong and ready to serve families well into the future.
